Pelicans Introduce “Rocket Man-ager”

On Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2005, in front of members of the media, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans welcomed in their new Manager, Rocket Wheeler. During the press conference / luncheon at Creek Ratz Restaurant in Murrells Inlet, Wheeler candidly fielded questions, and conducted interviews with area television stations and newspapers.
Pelicans General Manager Matt O’Brien kicked off the press conference by presenting Rocket with his new jersey, which bears the number 18, and a Pelicans cap.
Wheeler, a resident of Pawleys Island, mentioned that he was thrilled to be working in the same area that he calls home.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be working just down the road at Coastal Federal Field, which is so close to home,” stated Wheeler.
The Rocket Wheeler era begins on Thursday, April 6th at 7:02 pm when the Pelicans host the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Opening Night 2006.
