The North Carolina News Network recently received national recognition from their peers with several StateNets awards. The awards were presented at the StateNets News and Affiliations Directors conference in Las Vegas December 6, 2005.

NCNN won Best Spot News and Best Feature. The entire news staff was honored for their coverage of Hurricane Ophelia. NCNN Anchor/Reporter Bruce Ferrell won Best Feature for his “Faces of the North Carolina State Fair.”

“This is national recognition from our peers and I’m proud to work with these award-winning journalists!” said NCNN News Director Ellen Reinhardt.

StatNets is an organization of 30 statewide radio networks. The judges for the 2005 awards included journalism professors from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communications at Arizona State University, as well as the National Managing Editor at Metro Networks and the Managing Editor of KTAR Radio on Phoenix.
