WWWB-TV T0 Become WMYT-TV As Affiliation With New FOX Network Shakes Up Charlotte Television Market |
WWWB-TV, owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., will change its call letters to WMYT-TV effective Friday, April 28, 2006. Promotionally, the former WB Network affiliate will be known as MY TV12.
“The opportunity to affiliate with a totally new national television network has led us to re-think the way we position ourselves in the marketplace,” said WWWB-TV Vice President & General Manager Will Davis. “Although our primetime programming will not change until the fall, we’re changing our call letters to WMYT-TV in April to better reflect what we’ve become.”
WMYT-TV will be on cable channel 12 on most systems in the 22-county Charlotte television market, including Time Warner Cable. It can also be received over-the-air on analog channel 55 and digital channel 39, and on the Direct TV and Dish Network satellite systems.
MyNetworkTV, FOX’s new primetime general entertainment television network, recently announced that it had awarded an affiliation to WWWB-TV, with primetime programming set to begin on September 5, 2006. The WB Network is ceasing operation in September and merging with UPN to form the CW Network, which will be seen on WJZY-TV, also owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc.
“My TV12 is thrilled to be a part of MyNetwork TV,” Davis said. “News Corp. has succeeded on every level with The Fox Network, FOX News Channel, and FX entertainment channel. We anticipate the same success with MyNetwork TV in Charlotte.”
Thanks to WWWB-TV’s Will Davis for this capcom story.
