The first installment of FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike is now one for the history books, and one lucky singer has earned a spot in the finale. Holland Marie, a 19-year-old from Clayton, won the votes of the judges and will move on to compete as a finalist for the Gimme the Mike title.
Marie is a sophomore at Campbell University, working towards a degree in Vocal Performance. A self-proclaimed Elvis fan, she got the crowd going with her rendition of Trisha Yearwood’s “That’s What I Like About You.”
One of the other three contestants from the evening will get a second chance. After the show viewers could log on to the FOX 50 website and vote for their choice for a Wild Card to compete for a fifth spot in the finals on the Ultimate Wild Card show.
What are they singing for?
This year’s grand prize includes a demo from Osceola Recording Studios, a performance on the side stage at Alltel Pavilion, the opportunity to open for a national act at the Longbranch Entertainment Complex, consultation with management firm Murphy to Manteo, and four tickets on Southwest Airlines anywhere they fly.

The Wild Card winner from Show 1 will be announced during FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike next week, Wednesday, April 26th. Be sure to tune in at 7:30pm to watch the next four contestants go head to head for a shot at stardom.
The four judge’s picks and the Ultimate Wild Card winner will compete for the Gimme the Mike title in the live one-hour finale on Wednesday, May 24th at 7pm on FOX 50.
