Judges Make Final Choice for Gimme the Mike Finals
Fourth Wild Card Winner Announced |

The final regular episode of FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike installment aired on Wednesday, May 17th, and the judges made their last pick to round out the slate for the finale. Georgia Beck captured their votes with her rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and will move on to compete as a finalist for the Gimme the Mike title.
The nineteen year-old Beck hails from Fuquay-Varina where she lives on her family farm. One of five children, Beck works as a musician. She teaches piano lessons, plays accompaniment at her church and performs wherever she can. She plays classical piano and guitar and has her own informal band.
One of the other three contestants from the evening will get a second chance. After the show viewers could log on to the FOX 50 website and vote for their choice for a Wild Card to compete for a fifth spot in the finals on the Ultimate Wild Card show.

FOX 50 also announced the fourth Wild Card contestant during the show. Jordan Mericle lost out to Tamieka Lee for the judges pick during Show 4 but won the applause of the viewing audience. Fans voted online to send Mericle to the Wild Card show for a shot at being the Ultimate Wild Card and a second-chance slot in the finale.
Mericle lives in Raleigh where she is a junior at Sanderson High School. The 16-year-old enjoys her classes in chorus and theatre, as well as English & history. She loves music and is a member of a myriad of musical groups including her school’s advanced choir, the Sandpipers; the Christian Praise Band at her church, and the Capital Ambassadors.

What are they singing for?
This year’s grand prize includes a demo from Osceola Recording Studios, a performance on the side stage at Alltel Pavilion, the opportunity to open for a national act at the Longbranch Entertainment Complex, consultation with management firm Murphy to Manteo, and four tickets on Southwest Airlines anywhere they fly.

The Wild Card winner from Show 5 will be announced during FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike Ultimate Wild Card show next Tuesday, May 23rd. That winner will join the other four Wild Cards to compete for the sixth slot in the finals.
The five judge’s picks and the Ultimate Wild Card winner will then compete for the Gimme the Mike title in the live one-hour finale on Wednesday, May 24th at 7pm on FOX 50.
