Wool E. Bull is still a Triangle favorite even though he didn’t make the Hall of Fame this year. |
On Thursday, August 10, 2006, The Mascot Hall of Fame announced its professional team class for 2006 will include Jazz Bear from the Utah Jazz of the NBA, Clutch the Bear from the Houston Rockets of the NBA, and KC Wolf from the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL. Durham Bulls Mascot Wool E. Bull, the only mascot from Minor League Baseball, was not elected but will participate in the induction ceremonies.
“We’re very proud of Wool E. Bull and the outstanding support he received for the Mascot Hall of Fame,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “our fans really gave their all to get Wool E. Bull in, but it just wasn’t to be this year. Thankfully, there’s always next year.”
Along with the professional mascots, three collegiate mascots will be inducted. The 2006 class includes
- Aubie from Auburn University,
- Bucky the Badger from the University of Wisconsin and
- YoUDee from the University of Delaware.
All of the mascots will be inducted in a ceremony at Love Park in Philadelphia on August 15th from 11:30am to 1pm.
