|
Past & present NCAS board chairs & board members lined up on the field. |
The 2006 State Games were held in Cary, Durham and Raleigh this past June. 16,000 Tar Heel athletes participated in 26 sports in the Olympic-style competition.
CBC’s “Genuine Country” promoted a concert at Cary’s Regency Park to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the State Games, but the event fell victim to a severe thunderstorm.

The August 25th ceremony at the Bulls brought recognition to the State Games’ 20th anniversary. |
To make amends, the Durham Bulls paid tribute to the State Games on August 25th with a post game ceremony that featured a ceremonial torch passing, cauldron lighting and fireworks. Bulls’ VP George Habel is Chairman of North Carolina Amateur Sports, the Games’ parent organization, and CBC was a founding sponsor of the Games two decades ago.
Thanks to CS’ George Habel for this capcom story & these capcom photos.
