Shootout logo On Saturday, December 30, 2006, WJZY CW 46 aired the exciting and much-anticipated 7th Annual Bojangles High School Basketball Shootout at Cricket Arena.   This is WJZY’s second year airing this local charity basketball game.

“We are proud to help the Athlete’s United for Youth raise money to help educate local youth,” said Local Sales Manager Matt Livoti.

WJZY also televised the Slam Dunk Contest immediately following the game.

WJZY personnel manned the front entrance handing out Cash Cows and registering folks to win an autographed Charlotte Bobcats Basketball. WJZY signage was throughout the arena and was represented with a full page ad in the program.

The charity is made up of Dell Curry, Steve Smith and Jay Bilas.  The mission of Athletes United for Youth is to provide youth services throughout Charlotte Mecklenburg communities resulting in positive attitudes and a strong commitment to building character and self esteem, as well as enhancing academic skills and creating model citizens for life.  The organization’s motto is “Dream, Hope, Believe & Achieve.”
