Capitol Broadcasting Company believes in giving to the community through the Triangle United Way, and CBC’s annual dedication to that goal recently earned the company an award. The Triangle United Way presented CBC with the Best Sustained Campaign Performance Award at the non-profit’s annual “Academy of Caring” event on Wednesday, April 4, 2007.
The Best Sustained Campaign Performance award honors consistency, a company who has always conducted a solid campaign. CBC runs a Triangle United Way workplace campaign each fall, involving all divisions. In 2006, employees and the company match gave $229,550 to the TUW.
“CBC’s passion for the campaign [is] evidenced by their kickoff events & community impact tours to TUW member agencies,” said TUW Relationship Manager Ed Brennan.
“It’s gratifying to be recognized for so many ‘best practices’ in how we run the annual campaign,” said CS Vice President & General Manager George Habel, co-chair of CBC’s 2006 TUW campaign. “The really important elements, though, are CBC’s generosity and focus. The average individual gift is approaching $1,000 and 90% is earmarked for the Community Care Fund.”
“We are proud to recognize the hard work and dedication of our community partners. Together, we are changing lives of youth, families and seniors across the region,” says TUW President & CEO Craig Chancellor. |

“Congratulations again on a superb job by a superb organization,” Brennan continued. “For me personally, I really enjoyed working with everyone at Capitol Broadcasting in the 2006 campaign & am excited about my opportunity to work with all of you again this year!”
The TUW’s annual appreciation celebration and awards reception took place at the Arena Club at the RBC Center in Raleigh. As guests stepped off the elevator for the evening event, a blur of flashing cameras greeted them. Reminiscent of the Academy Awards, the red carpet literally rolled out for the supports of the Triangle United Way.
Thirty-three awards were presented throughout the course of the evening to both companies and individuals, including top honors for Rex Healthcare, which received the Chairman’s Award of Excellence for Best Overall Performance.
