Tift Merritt to Perform With N.C. Symphony at WRAL’s Pops in the Park |

Music lovers are invited to join WRAL-TV and the North Carolina Symphony for an evening of live entertainment and fun for the whole family.
WRAL’s Pops in the Park concert will be held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park 7 pm Sunday, Sept. 2. Popular local artist, Tift Merritt, joins the North Carolina Symphony on stage for the first time.
Several of Merritt’s songs are being arranged for the orchestra, including “Stray Paper” and “I Am Your Tambourine.” During the evening, Merritt will also premiere her title song from her upcoming CD, “Another Country.”
WRAL anchor and reporter, Cullen Browder, hosts the concert, which ends with Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” accompanied by fireworks launched over Symphony Lake in Regency Park.
Gates open at 4:30 pm. Afternoon entertainment begins at 5 pm with Capitol Broadcasting Co.’s corporate band, “Transmit This.” WRAL’s traffic reporter, Mark Roberts, hosts the afternoon entertainment.
United Arts of Wake County and Visual Art Exchange will turn the sidewalks into art. Chalk pastels will be available for people of all ages to create art displays.
Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Food will also be available at the amphitheatre.
