WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb

WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb pounds the pavement every day chasing stories for WRAL-TV.   But she also moonlights as a mother of two young daughters.  Her adventures at home have inspired her to put pen to paper, and her new missive will soon hit bookstore shelves.

Smotherhood™:  Wickedly Funny Confessions from the Early Years is touted as “what other moms think but don’t dare say,” and “edgier, laugh-out-loud side of real-life parenting.”

Smotherhood“Alert to working Moms:  Open this book to any page and start reading.  You will immediately discover that Amanda Lamb is a kindred spirit who has walked many miles in your high heels, and has an uncanny ability to capture the often crazy duality of the working mom’s life,” said NC First Lady Mary Easley of Lamb’s book.

Lamb’s inspiration for writing the book came from her participation with another book, “This Day in the Life: Diaries from Women Across America.”  The book chronicles the events of one day, June 29, 2004, a collection of essays from 34 women.  Lamb submitted an essay, which was chosen to open the book.

Lamb will be “on tour” with Smotherhood at book signings in the area in the fall.

“Nowhere is the daze that swings between exaltation and extinction in early motherhood better described. Amanda Lamb’s raw, tender, bone-honest truths drive home that some things would be too difficult—if we didn’t do them out of love,” said author Jacquelyn Mitchard.
