A veteran Dallas broadcaster and sports reporter, Dave Shore, has been recruited to lead the programming department at Capitol’s 99.9 FM. The station is preparing to premier a sports radio format in the fall.
Shore was Sports Director and Assistant Program Director at KESN FM,
the ESPN Radio affiliate in Dallas. He was lead reporter for the
station’s Cowboys and Mavericks coverage and he hosted Coach Bob Knight’s weekly radio program for Texas Tech basketball. Also, Shore was heard nationwide on ESPN Radio as a weekend talk show host.
Shore has worked in sports radio and television in Portland, Oregon, and
Lexington, Kentucky, where he was a member of the University of Kentucky
play-by-play team, as well as Evansville, Indiana.
“Sports brings out the passion in every fan, and I’m excited about the opportunity we have to serve the passionate fans of the Triangle,” said Shore. “It’s important that we deliver the sports news – not just in a timely fashion – but take fans ‘inside’ with analysis and strong opinions. And sports is about fun. We are going to have plenty of that!”
“Dave has major market experience and Midwest roots – a perfect combination for the Triangle,” said Capitol Sports Vice President George Habel. “He knows pro sports, but has a keen appreciation for the college game.”
Shore will join Capitol on September 4th.
Details about 99.9 FM’s programming line-up will be released in late August. The station announced in June that it will air NHL Carolina Hurricanes games beginning with the first pre-season game against Washington on September 16th at 3:00.
