The Durham Bulls Youth Athletic League is getting a boon from Fidelity Investments, a major donation & coaches from among their employees. |
The Durham Bulls recently announced a major donation from Fidelity Investments, benefitting the nearly 500 children who participate in the Durham Bulls Youth Athletic League.
Fidelity Investments employees collected more than $4,000 to support the DBYAL’s efforts in bringing the game of baseball to area children. Fidelity’s donation will be used primarily for pitching machines, which has been a major need for the DBYAL over the past several seasons.
“We can’t thank Fidelity enough,” said Herb Sellers, director for the DBYAL. “Their support of our league has been incredible.”
In addition to the monetary donations, several employees have volunteered to coach in the DBYAL, which provides recreational baseball free-of-charge to youngsters in the city’s most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
“The DBYAL is extremely important to us. We are very pleased that Fidelity remains so committed to the Durham community and to helping provide opportunities for children who otherwise would not have the chance to play ball,” said Mike Birling, General Manager of the Bulls.
In addition, the Bulls and Fidelity are teaming up again this year for sports equipment drives on Saturday fireworks nights at the DBAP. Those who donate new or slightly used bats, balls or gloves for the DBYAL will receive a special cinch bag, courtesy of Fidelity and the company’s Inspire the Future program, which supports community youth initiatives in athletics and the arts.
