99.9 FM The Fan Announces Inaugural Cornhole Cup Cornhole Cup Will Feature a 64-Team Single Elimination Tournament
|
99.9FM “The Fan” is proud to announce the Inaugural Cornhole Cup, featuring a 64-team single elimination tournament at Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, September 13th, 2008. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
“We’re thrilled to host a tournament benefiting such a great cause,” said Mike Morgan, General Manager of 99.9 FM The Fan. “We hope to raise awareness about prostate cancer, while also donating money to help find a cure for the disease.”
Many people attribute the rapid growth of the game’s popularity to the exposure it received in the parking lots of Ohio State and Cincinnati Bengals football games.
However, Cornhole is not just a tailgate phenomenon anymore. Because the game’s popularity is skyrocketing, Cornhole can be found in bars, at backyard BBQs and even at the beach. It is a great game that allows social interaction and friendly competition.
The game of Cornhole consists of two two-man teams, two Cornhole platforms with a hole in the center, and twelve corn bags. Similar to horseshoes, cornhole participants alternate pitching their three corn bags to the opposite cornhole platform. When a participant tosses their corn bag into the hole, three points are scored, while a corn bag landing on the platform scores one point. The first team to twenty one points wins the game.
The entry fee for a two-man team is $25. Each team member will receive an official Cornhole Cup t-shirt and various other parting gifts. Registration is limited to 64 teams.
