Price Named Minor League Player of the Year

The Durham Bulls announced on Wed, Sept 10, 2008, pitcher David Price has been named USA Today’s Minor League Player of the Year. Price won the award in a vote by the staff of USA TODAY and Sports Weekly as well as online voting by fans. He took 57% of the over 23,000 votes cast.
Prior to joining the Bulls in August, Price posted an 11-0 with a 1.87 ERA in 15 starts at Vero Beach (A) and Montgomery (AA). He was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in the regular season for Durham and 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA in the Governors’ Cup Playoffs. Price was the first overall selection by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2007 amateur draft out of Vanderbilt University.
Price becomes the second Bull to win USA Today’s prestigious award, the first since Andruw Jones won it in 1996 for the then Class-A Durham Bulls.
