WRAL-TV is about to light up its corner of Raleigh for the holidays. The Big 5 will light its 300-foot television tower for the 49th time on Monday, December 1st with a special celebration sprinkled all through the evening newscasts.
Beginning the 5pm news hour, WRAL-TV Chief Meteorologist will conduct the countdown live outside on the WRAL plaza while WRAL-TV Anchor Bill Leslie appears from Studio A with The Capital City Girls Choir. The musical guests will bring sounds of the season to set the festive mood for the event.
WRAL-TV Anchor Debra Morgan will join Fishel outside to throw the switch about 6:15pm to turn the tower into the area’s largest lighted tree.
SKY 5 will capture the glow from on high. WRAL.com will carry live streaming coverage online and wireless subscribers can see the action on their portable devices.
“The WRAL Tower Lighting is an annual tradition that we all look forward to,” said WRAL-TV Director of News Operations & Special Projects Leesa Moore Craigie. “It is our gift to the community and a wonderful way to start the holiday season. It is truly one of those feel-good TV moments of which I’m proud to be a part.”
