ESPN’s Mike Tirico recently paid a visit to the Triangle, and he stopped by to spend some time with his colleagues at 99.9 The Fan. CBC’s all-sports all-talk radio station became an ESPN Radio affiliate in December 2008. Listeners can hear the “Tirico and Van Pelt” show weekdays from 1-3pm.
ESPN’s Mike Tirico broadcasts from American Tobacco’s Bay 7 during his recent visit to the Triangle. |

In town to call the Davidson-Duke game as part of ESPN’s announcer swap, Tirico also took time to meet several CBC’ers before his Tuesday show with Scott Van Pelt.
First 99.9 The Fan hosted a meet and greet on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Tobacco Road Sports Café on Glenwood South in Raleigh. Tirico then originated his radio show from The Fan’s new remote studio at Tobacco Road. He broadcast his Wednesday show out of Bay 7 at American Tobacco in Durham.
Van Pelt joined him on both programs from their usual location, ESPN’s studios in Bristol, CT.
Tirico is the play-by-play voice of ESPN’s Monday Night Football, as well as the NBA on ESPN and ESPN Radio. He also covers events such as the NBA Finals, the Masters and the U.S. Open.
