99.9 The Fan Sports Director/On-Air Host Mike Maniscalco is sporting a new look these days, a beard. Maniscalco decided to “grow one for the team,” literally, as part of the Carolina Hurricanes Beard-a-thon. And his new facial hair is helping him raise money for a good cause.
The Canes’ Beard-a-thon is a fundraiser for fans to show their hockey love while raising money for charity.
“I am growing a beard to help the Kids n Community Foundation for the Carolina Hurricanes,” explained Maniscalco. “ Facial hair is not a strong suit of mine but it is for a great cause. So far to date I have raised $350 dollars for the charity…but more is always better.”
Maniscalco says he’s going back to the clean shaven look after the Canes post-season ends. |
The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation contributes to children’s charities in North Carolina, such as the Rocking Horse Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center and the Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Clubs. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation works to “improve the health, educational and social opportunities in the lives of our young people, as they are the key to the long-term well-being of our communities.”
Visit Maniscalco’s Beard-a-thon page today, and keep track of his growth. He will keep the facial hair going as long as the Canes keep playing in the post-season. His beard has been growing since the Canes started the playoffs in April. Now that’s dedication.
