Beverly “Guitar” Watkins to Take Stage in American Tobacco FREE Concert Series |
Another great talent is about to take the stage in the 2009 Music On The Lawn schedule. Blues maven Beverly “Guitar” Watkins will play on Thursday, June 11th, at 6pm.
Watkins played with Piano Red and his Doctorfeelgood and the Interns band in the early 1960s and has played onstage with legends such as BB King and James Brown.
The 70-year-old rocks the house wherever she goes with her unique mix of electric blues, R&B, rock and roll, what has been called “railroad-stompin” blues.

The Venue The American Tobacco Campus is arguably one of the top venues in the Triangle for enjoying an outdoor concert in an intimate and family-friendly atmosphere. Ample parking and five fine eateries surround the lawn: Tyler’s Taproom, Café Zen, Mellow Mushroom, Starbucks, and in spring 2009, Cuban Revolution.
Outdoor seating abounds and some restaurants take their grills to the sidewalk, so food and beverages are only steps away.
Kids are welcome on the lawn where families can enjoy the Ole Bull River that runs through the middle of the campus. As a courtesy to your neighbors, no dogs or coolers please.
