On Thursday, November 19, 2009, MEDIA FOR MEALS held its 2009 charity bowling tournament for The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. The tournament was created to raise money, food and awareness for those in need during these difficult times.
Twelve media organizations were invited to play in the tournament, with each organization entering a four person team to compete. The tournament consisted of 1 game of bowling with each frame being a different way to “crazy bowl” with the final frame wrapping up the fun with regular bowling.
Each outlet wrote a $100 entry fee check to The Food Bank and invited friends and family to attend the charity event. The public was encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to Thunder Alley to support the cause and cheer on their favorite team!

CBS 10 WILM entered their 4 person team, consisting of General Manager Connie Knox, National Sales Assistant Terri Pudney, Master Control Supervisor Shawn Fayle and Local Sales Assistant Cyndal Russell.
“This tournament was a great idea,” said MCO Shawn Fayle, “even though we didn’t win, we had a really good time and raised money for a good cause.”
The tournament got underway at 7pm at Thunder Alley Family Entertainment Center in Leland, North Carolina. At the end of the tournament, the winning team, Wrightsville Beach Magazine, presented a $1200 trophy check to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
