The latest Arbitron radio survey results show that Capitol Broadcasting
Company’s 99.9 FM The Fan- ESPN Radio (WCMC), and 620 The Buzz (WDNC) together topped the 100,000 weekly listeners mark during the most recent ratings period.
The 12-week winter ratings survey took place between January 6 and March 31, 2010, and evaluated both total daily listeners for area stations and the number of unique listeners who tuned in for at least five minutes over the course of the day. Combined, the ratings results show that 99.9 FM The Fan and 620 The Buzz reach over 110,000 unique listeners each week on their broadcasts from Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to midnight.
Eclipsing the 110,000 audience mark is a record for Triangle sports radio since the format was introduced in 1998. 99.9 FM The Fan showed a 16 percent increase in total audience share over the ratings period.
“We understand that our listeners have a choice of where they go to get their sports information, so it’s great to see the growing loyalty we are building with Triangle sports fans through our branding and programming, on air and online,” said Dave Shore, operations manager of CBC’s sports radio properties. “We’re very happy to be able to provide local shows from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday over our two stations while mixing in the best national sports talk personalities on the air to provide a balanced view of the topics and opinions being discussed by Triangle sports fans everyday.”
