The Charlotte Racefest at Southpark event is comprised of a Half Marathon and 10K road race and Charlotte’s WJZY has been with the event since its inception. This year’s event had a record number 2800 runners participate! Add in spectators and over 5000 people were on site the morning of April 10, 2010, to run or cheer on a loved one or friend.
“This event gets bigger and better every year and we can’t thank Charlotte’s WJZY enough for being with us all these years,” said Event Director Neil Howard.
Joining Charlotte’s WJZY onsite were several clients and co-sponsors of the event. Subway has come back to the table every year to make sure they are a sponsor for Racefest. They have also become a sponsor of the 8K Turkey Trot held on Thanksgiving Day with a similar format to Racefest.
“We love tying into this event as it’s a perfect fit for us to showcase our healthy lifestyle choices,” said Subway Advertising Account Manager Sally Pellarin.
Also sponsoring the event this year were…Rite-Aid, the Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo and Carolina Asthma and Allergy.
WJZY had lots of giveaways in our tent and registered viewers to win Regal Movie Passes. Charlotte’s WJZY looks forward to celebrating a decade of Racefest next year for the 10th Anniversary of the event.
