Lucky The Wonder Dog Retires; Ceremony to be Held on Saturday

The Durham Bulls have announced long time team mascot Lucky the Wonder Dog is retiring after more than seven years serving the team. The Bulls will say goodbye to Lucky during a post-game ceremony on Saturday, May 22, 2010, following the Bulls game against Pawtucket.
“Lucky has been a part of our family for several years and will be missed,” Durham Bulls General Manager Mike Birling said, “We wish him well in retirement.”
Lucky joined the team in 2003 performing on weekends for the fans. He was known for his post-game victory lap around the bases following a Bulls’ win. Lucky is owned and trained by Gene Lonsway of Chapel Hill.
Lucky’s successor, Lucky Jr., will begin performing on weekend home games at the DBAP beginning on Friday, June 11th. Tickets for any of these games are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
