On Tuesday, May 25, 2010, twenty-one more Triangle citizens became Goodmon Fellows.   WRAL-TV Director of Local Programming & Production Phyllis Parish was among the almost two dozen members of  Leadership Triangle’s 2010 Spring Regional Leadership Class.

The group met every two weeks for several months, learning about various social issues in our region.  Triangle executives and officials made presentations and took the participants on tours.

CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon, former Board Chair of Leadership Triangle and the namesake for the Goodmon Fellows, helped present the diplomas and congratulate the graduates during the evening ceremony.

“Leadership Triangle was a wonderful experience,” said Parish.  “I met and was able to develop deep friendships with many of my classmates.  The most surprising and interesting and enjoyable part of the class for me was the wealth of diversity.  My class was made up of several native North Carolinians, of which I am one, but I had a classmate from Chile, a woman from Poland – we became very close and share a real interest in the arts – and also Venezuela.”

LT Executive Director Winkie La Force introduces the 2010 Regional Leadership Class.

“So we had a real international feel to our class which brought a whole different perspective to Leadership Triangle for our class,” she continued.  “So lots of diversity between the classmates and a real collaborative spirit in our class, and I love that.”

Parish has a particular interest in the arts and was able to explore ways to support that love.  She said the group did a great deal of brainstorming and collaborating on issues surrounding the arts and environment, as well as learning about better transit possibilities for the region.

Capitol Broadcasting is a major sponsor of Leadership Triangle.

Leadership Triangle is a non-profit dedicated to fostering Triangle leaders with an emphasis on regional thinking.  Leadership Triangle offers a regional leadership course each spring and a personal leadership class in the fall and has recently added a College Leadership session among others.  To learn more about Leadership Triangle, visit the organization’s website at http://www.leadershiptriangle.com/.
