So you want to be the General Manager of the Durham Bulls for a weekend, eh? Well, before we tell you how you can in the FRITOS® brand Minor League Baseball™ GM Sweepstakes, here’s a little bit about Bulls GM Mike Birling.
Mike Birling is in his ninth season as General Manager of the Bulls and 12th year with Capitol Broadcasting Company. He served four seasons as Assistant General Manager of the Bulls beginning in 1998. Before joining the Bulls, Birling worked for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Class A) of the Midwest League from 1994-1998, the last three seasons as General Manager.
He was named Midwest League Executive of the Year in 1998 and International League Executive of the Year in 2003. Birling began his career in sports in 1993 as an account executive for the LaCrosse Catbirds of the Continental Basketball Association. He is married to Amy and has two children, Ty (10) and Alec (8).
FRITOS®, America’s hometown snack, is giving you a chance to be a Minor League Baseball General Manager for a weekend. You could win air transportation for two, hotel, great seats, fifteen hundred bucks and a chance to sit in on team meetings for a weekend. Fans can only enter the sweepstakes online at www.MiLB.com/FRITOS.
Five (5) prizes will be awarded to a winner and a guest. The winner can select to travel to one of the 6 pre-selected and already approved host cities: Portland, ME; Durham, NC; Memphis, TN; New Orleans, LA; Las Vegas, NV; or San Antonio, TX.
The winner will shadow that Club’s General Manager and participate in staff meetings, pre-game activities, ceremonial first pitch and assist with game day operations. Fans can return to online registration and enter as many times as they would like during each entry period for a chance to win:
- 1st Entry Period: April 19-May 2, 2010
- 2nd Entry Period: May 3- May 16, 2010
- 3rd Entry Period: May 17- May 30,2010
- 4th Entry Period: May 31 – June 13, 2010
- 5th Entry Period: June 14 – June 27, 2010
