WILM staffers present a check for $1,000 to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. |
On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, employees from CBS 10 WILM couldn’t be found at the station. Instead, they were volunteering for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity to help build a house for a family in need.
Local businesses sponsored the WILM team, each donating $200 to Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Empire Deli & Bagel, El Cerro Grande, Holmes Security Systems, O’Leary’s Automotive Repair and Head to Toe Day Spa were the local advertisers who participated in this feel good promotion.
“We wanted to do something to show our love and support for our community and the people in it,” said Local Sales Manager Glenn Saulnier. “We were very pleased to present a check to Kitty Yerkes, Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s Development Director, for $1000!”

Production’s Steve Klem had his camera in tow while he and the rest of the WILM team volunteered on the 14th. Although the rain briefly interrupted the work of the volunteers, it soon ceased, allowing a porch to be built, floors to be laid, and cabinets to be installed.
Klem created a commercial to air on CBS 10 WILM, thanking our sponsors and Habitat for Humanity for being a part of this wonderful cause.
