Santa will kick off the holiday season in the Triangle with the WRAL-TV Raleigh Chritmas Parade on Saturday, November 20th. |
A holiday tradition continues on Saturday, November 20 when the WRAL-TV Raleigh Christmas Parade rolls down Fayetteville Street. WRAL’s live coverage begins at 10am hosted by WRAL morning news anchors Bill Leslie and Kelcey Carlson, with Brian Shrader serving as street-side reporter. North Carolina’s own award-winning, chart-topping country music star, Jason Michael Carroll, is the grand marshal of the parade, now in its 66th year.
Presented by the Greater Raleigh Merchant’s Association, this annual event is the largest parade between Atlanta and Washington, DC. An estimated 50,000 people will line the streets, in addition to thousands more watching at home.
The parade will feature floats, super-sized balloons, twirlers, dancers, North Carolina’s finest marching bands and a special North Pole visitor at the end of the parade.
The parade route is 1.2 miles long, starting at the corner of Hillsborough and St. Mary’s Street. The parade then travels east on Hillsborough, turns south at the Capitol on Salisbury Street, east on Morgan and then makes a final turn down Fayetteville Street.

This is the 37th consecutive year that WRAL-TV will produce and air the event. The broadcast will air live in high-definition and will also be streamed live on WRAL.com and simulcast on RTV 50.2. Each Saturday in December, the parade will be rebroadcast on WRAL.2 at 8am, and there will be a special holiday rebroadcast on WRAL-TV at 4pm on Christmas Day.
After the parade, go to WRAL.com and search the word “parade” to view photos from this year’s parade and photos from past parades.
