Television, Radio & Website Promote Big Event for the Triangle
Capitol Broadcasting Company has an aggressive forecheck on the ice when it comes to the upcoming NHL All-Star game in Raleigh. Every CBC radio station, television station and related websites are promoting and taking part in one of the biggest weekends to hit the Triangle this year.
CBC Goes Wide Open for the All-Stars
CBC will be front and center at the downtown event All-Star Wide Open as the official media partner. The major game and monster weekend take place on January 28-30, 2011.
CBC divisions including WRAL-TV and FOX 50 in the Triangle, WMYT and WJZY in Charlotte, and WILM in Wilmington will be promoting the weekend along with radio stations 99.9 The Fan, 620 The Buzz and MIX 101.5 in Raleigh, and CBC’s Sunrise Broadcasting stations in Wilmington including WMFD, WSFM, WKXB, WILT and WAZO. WRAL.com and CBC’s social media outlets will also get into the action to make sure viewers and listeners know all about the NHL All-Star Weekend.
And the stations will have a presence at everything from the downtown activities to the Fan Fair to the big game itself.
There Will Be Snow
Already, we can forecast snow for All-Star Wide Open! We’ll make snow and ice sizzle for the NHL in downtown Raleigh. WRAL TV will bring in snow making gear to create a compelling “play space” for southern hockey fans at our television live shot location on City Plaza.
CBC places banners for the NHL All-Star weekend outside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. |
WRAL-TV Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel, a loyal Caniac, will be on hand throughout the weekend to challenge fans to a shootout on the downtown skating rink. The WRAL-TV O Fishel Winter Wonderland on City Plaza will definitely be a hot spot, or should we say cold spot, for the celebration.
Tune in to the Radio
99.9 The Fan will be the NHL Weekend’s radio headquarters, and the station will air the All-Star Game on January 30th live. On Friday, January 28, the Adam & Joe Show will air live from 3-7pm in Fan Fest. And on Saturday, January 29th 99.9 ESPN Radio will air a “Special All-Star Show” live from Fan Fest.

Canes To Represent
Canes Eric Staal, Jeff Skinner and Cam Ward have been selected for the All-Star game. In a change this year, rather than the two conferences playing against each other, the All-Star players themselves will hold a draft to select the two teams for the 2011 game.
After all 42 players have been selected, they will vote on two captains. Then the captains will make their selections in a draft on Friday, January 28th.
