Drive time DJ are often heard saying “The hits keep coming” and the same could be said about the continuous recognition of the WRAL-TV newsroom and staff. They are the winners of two, count them, two Regional Murrow Awards. WRAL-TV is being honored for “Overall Excellence” and for outstanding “Video Newscast” for the 6pm courthouse fire coverage.
“This is a reflection on the outstanding contributions of the entire staff here,” said WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall of the Overall Excellence honor. “We should be very proud of winning this award two years in a row!”
The Radio Television Digital News Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow’s pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
