Exolorer Post 50 students work hard all year long to bring the Bulls to TV. Now you can help them by purchasing a duck. |
You’ve probably enjoyed more than a few innings of Durham Bulls Baseball on Time Warner Cable HD Channel 1151 this season. Now is your chance to help the kids that bring you all those game in high definition go to college.
Durham Bulls Television is run by a group of 14-20 year old students in a program called Explorer Post 50. These students volunteer their time to learn the exciting field of sports broadcasting, but also for a chance to earn scholarships to college in the communications field. Since 2008 over $20,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Post 50 students for their commitment to the program. Now they are looking for a commitment from their viewers.
Fans are asked to purchase a duck to compete in the 2011 Great American Tobacco Duck Race on Saturday, October 1st from noon until 5 PM at the American Tobacco Campus. Every $10 duck purchased goes to the Explorer Post 50 Scholarship Fund. All you need to do is click here to purchase your duck.
You don’t have to be present to race your duck or be eligible for prizes. If you would like to attend, you can just bring your receipt to the Explorer Post 50 booth at the duck race and pick it up then.
Thank you for supporting Durham Bulls Television and helping the students that bring it to you go to college!
