New Twists on a Holiday Tradition + A TREE-mendous Display of Spirit 2011 American Tobacco Tower Lighting |
Ring in the season with singing, swinging and blinging. Join hundreds of merry-makers on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, 7:00pm at the American Tobacco Amphitheater for new twists on a Triangle tradition — the annual Tower Lighting, presented by University Ford and University Kia and sponsored by Duke Medicine and Duke Energy .
The acrobats of Acro Entertainment will stretch and celebrate in ways you’ve never seen from Santa’s elves.
Featured guests, the multi-generational, multi-ethnic 100 Men in Black, will bring “the good news of the gospel” to glorious life. Plus, catch more holiday hits from the Victorian Carolers and WG Pearson Elementary and Middle School Choral Groups.
The first 750 to arrive get a complimentary stocking stuffer: a light wand sponsored by University Kia and University Ford
After the Tower Lighting, stroll across the street to experience the Triangle Christmas Tree Challenge. Area non-profits pull out all the stops to decorate rows of Christmas trees on display all December. Nine prizes $mdash; ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 $mdash; await the non–profits behind the trees deemed “best decorated.”
Fans will select the top three winners by texting and voting online starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 through Dec. 18. All–star judges will select an overall favorite on the final day of text voting (standard rates may apply).
You can see the trees and vote online at WRAL.com or TriangleTreeChallenge.com
