Hobbton High School from Sampson County wins the top prize for their video entry in FOX 50’s Lip Dub 2 Project. |
Twenty-seven local high schools put their best video forward for FOX 50’s Lip Dub 2 contest, and three have come out on top. FOX 50 announced the winners during the 10pm WRAL newscasts last week.
And the winners are…..
Hobbton High School from Sampson County took home the Grand Prize and $10,000 for their school lip dubbing to “We’re All in This Together” in the school gym complete with Wildcats mascot & gold and black school colors as the theme.
Halifax Academy from Roanoke Rapids won First Runner Up and $5,000 for their school with a GLEE-like rendition of “A Loser Like Me” fittingly sung by the cast of GLEE.
Apex High School in Apex took Second Runner Up and $2,500 for their school with a catchy hillbilly story-to-a-song “Getting Over Your Love” by Holy Ghost Tent Revival.
School mascots made appearances and everything from banjos to trumpets to a flapper kick-line to break dancing smattered the winning entries.
Halifax Academy from Roanoke Rapids win First Runner Up. |
Apex High School take home Second Runner Up this year. |
2012 marked the second year for the popular Lip Dub contest. Schools made their videos and then the public could cast votes for top choices each day during the voting period. Voting closed on May 6th.
FOX 50 will pay visits to the three winning schools to present checks next week.
Thanks to this year’s Lib Dub sponsors, the Good Will Community Foundation and It’s Okay 2 Ask. And thanks to William Peace University for being the online sponsor.
Congratulations to Hobbton High School, Halifax Academy and Apex High School for being the 2012 Lip Dub 2 winners!
