The music goes Motown on the big screen in the next FREE event in American Tobacco’s summer series. On the Lawn Presented by University Ford & Kia and Bull City Bucks features the next Movie on the Lawn of 2012 with “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” on Friday, August 3rd.
The film is the true story of the greatest musicians you’ve never heard of! The founder of Motown Records found a group of musicians who would come to call themselves the Funk Brothers and who would be the house band on all of its major hits. This band was the heartbeat of every song and this documentary, cut with archive footage, interviews and live performances finally gives them the credit that is long overdue.
The movie begins at 9pm under the water tower. Bring a chair or blanket and pick up dinner from one of American Tobacco’s great restaurants.
