As a lead in to The Carolina Hurricanes’ home opener Tuesday night, Capitol Broadcasting Sports Radio Station 99.9 HD3 The Ticket plans to broadcast 24 consecutive hours of classic Carolina Hurricanes game broadcasts starting at 6pm on Monday January 21, 2013, and concluding at 6pm Tuesday January 22. At 6pm Mike Maniscalco takes to the air waves on sister station WCMC-FM 99.9 The Fan to host “The Kangaroo Express Storm Front” pregame show before the Canes’ home opener against The Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Ticket will air the following four games continuously during the 24 hour period:
- Game one of The Stanley Cup Finals, Carolina at Detroit played on June 4, 2002
- Game seven of The Stanley Cup Finals, Edmonton at Carolina played on June 19, 2006
- Game seven of The Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, Carolina at New Jersey played on April 28, 2009
- Game seven of The Eastern Conference Semifinals, Carolina at Boston played on May 14, 2009
Fans without HD Radios can hear the “24 Hours of Carolina Hurricanes” presentation by listening to The Ticket’s stream online at www.WRALSportsFan.com or via The WRALSportsFanApp on Apple ios or Android mobile devices.
The Ticket’s sister station 99.9 The Fan once again serves as the flagship station of The Hurricanes. The station will air every game broadcast live throughout the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. Thirty minutes before each game The Fan will air its “Kangaroo Express Storm Front” pregame show hosted by Mike Maniscalco. Maniscalco returns after the game and is joined by Hurricane’s television broadcaster John Forslund for “The Aftermath” post-game show.
Using HD Radio technology, the 99.9 frequency now hosts four sports radio stations. 99.9 The Fan is on 99.9 HD-1. A simulcast of WDNC-AM known as 620 The Buzz can be heard on 99.9 HD-2. 99.9 HD-3 The Ticket features Yahoo! Sports Radio, Appalachian State Athletics and Carolina Railhawks Soccer. A simulcast of WCLY-AM, the Spanish ESPN Deportes format is on 99.9 HD-4.
