FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) launches year three of its popular and award-winning “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project” presented by Goodwill Community Foundation and sponsored by Its Ok 2 Ask.
Over the last two years, 60 local high schools have participated resulting in six high schools receiving cash prizes totaling $35,000! Last year, Hobbton High School (Newton Grove) won the grand prize of $10,000, followed by 1st place runner-up Halifax Academy with $5,000 and 2nd place runner-up Apex High School with $2,500.
The “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project” gives local high school students the chance to show off their creativity which could win their high school one-of-three cash prizes including the grand prize of $10,000!
- The online entry period runs February 11 through March 28 on FOX50.com.
- Viewers may vote the week of April 8 on FOX50.com, Facebook.com/FOX50 and by text.
- Open to all public and private high schools located within the following North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne or Wilson.
The top 3 high school videos, determined by most votes, will win $2,500 for 2nd place (announced on Tuesday, April 16), $5,000 for 1st place (announced on Wednesday, April 17) and $10,000 for the grand prize winning high school (announced on Thursday, April 18). All winning schools will be announced during WRAL’s 10:00pm News on FOX 50.

About The “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project”: Created in 2011 as a fun and educational television and web competition for local high school students and their schools. Students work together with teachers to create and video tape a music video in one continuous take “lip syncing” the words of their selected song. To date, FOX 50 Creative Services has received 13 nominations and 7 awards for the “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project”.
