Calling all bicycle enthusiasts and green thinkers in the Triangle. The Tour de Fat is coming back to American Tobacco for another fun day of celebrating all things bike and beer on Saturday, June 15, 2013. New Belgium Brewing is bringing the 12 U.S. city tour to downtown Durham in the Diamond View Park.
Registration begins at 10am and the costumed bicycle parade at 11am. The afternoon will include music and more (see the line-up here). The not-for-profit event will benefit the NC Active Transportation Alliance and Triangle Spokes & Durham Bike Co-op.
Tour de Fat organizers say, “If dressing freaky, riding bikes, listening to bands and drinking beer are things you like, then don’t miss the most FUN fundraiser around…Tour de Fat is coming back to town! Each day begins with a giant bicycle parade that weaves through city streets, designed for people of all skill levels; all are welcome and colorful costumes are encouraged. For the rest of the afternoon, the stages heat up with world-class acts and the park becomes a celebration unlike any other!”
The family-friendly event is free and open to the public, but a $5 donation is suggested to participate in the ride. Dogs and outside alcohol are not allowed, but a variety of food and beer will be for sale to enjoy.
