Independent WeeklyIndependent Weekly recently featured a photographic endeavor that’s been going on at the Bulls this season.   Three separate articles cover different facets of how the Bull City Summer came together, the people behind the project and the winning baseball players who make up the team this summer.

The Bull City Summer project was created to document all 72 home games and give fans a behind-the-scenes look around the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fifteen writers, editors and visual artists, including photographers Leah Sobsey, Frank Hunter, Kate Joyce and Ivan Weiss, represented here, are collaborating on the project.  Acclaimed visiting artists Alec Soth, Hank Willis Thomas, and Hiroshi Watanabe are also participating.

Check out these three featured articles from the July 31st issue of Independent Weekly:

  • Who are the Bulls this year and how did they come to own baseball’s best record?
  • The people behind Bull City Summer
  • A day at Durham Bulls Athletic Park with Japanese photographer Hiroshi Watanabe
