On Monday, August 12, 2013, MIX 101.5 began a new era on morning radio with new co-host Mike Chase. Coming to the Triangle from Portland, Oregon, Chase joins Lynda Loveland on the MIX Morning Show. His co-workers at CBC radio welcomed him with a get-to-know-you breakfast after his first morning on the air.
Chase joined staffers from MIX and CBC’s sports radio stations, 99.9 The Fan and 620 The Buzz, for bagels and coffee and a chance to get better acquainted.
“Mike auditioned for us in early June, and right away we knew he was our guy,” said WRAL-FM Program Director Barry Fox. “He’s always on. He does a great job.”
After saying a few words about Chase to the crowd, Fox gave him the floor.
“Everyone here has been so warm and nice,” Chase said of his new colleagues. “I think it’s the culture of this company, a distinct culture.”

With what is sure to be known in the Triangle as his trademark good humor, Chase made a few self-deprecating remarks as he shared of his background with the crowd.
Chase spent the past 13 years on morning radio in Portland. He’s worked at a few other stations and done some acting as well. He studied psychology in college and says he loves the one-on-one connection that radio offers. He talked about his upbringing both with the crowd and during his first morning on-air. He said he was on his own a lot growing up, “so I’m really big on connections.”

“It’s been tough to move,” he said. “There’s been a lot of change.”
But he emphasized that he’s looking forward to this new opportunity in the Triangle. His wife and their two children, ages 3 and 6, will be coming to the Triangle to join him in a couple of weeks.
