“Going into the day, I had know idea I would be playing in a wheelchair basketball game. I didn’t know what to expect going in to the event, but I left with a great appreciation for the athletes there. Basketball is tough enough in the first place, then you add the challenge of maneuvering a wheelchair, and you get a sport like no other. I was pleased with how well our Capitol Broadcasting team played, but we came up just short, losing in overtime. Overall it was an awesome experience and I hope to do it again.” – 99.9 The Fan Promotion Assistant Travis Dalton |
BridgeIISports hosted August Madness this year on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at PNC Arena. August Madness is a wheelchair basketball tourney that raises funds for BridgeIISports. This is the second year Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. has had a team compete. This year’s team was composed of Mark Thomas, Mike Maniscalco, Travis Dalton and Jonathan Stout of 99.9 The Fan & 620 The Buzz. Two members from BridgeIISports also helped the team along.
The CBC team played hard to tie in their match, but lost in overtime to Sports Endeavors. Regardless, the team had a great time for a great cause. WRAL-TV Sports Anchor Jeff Gravely emceed the event again this year.
