“Best Team Operations” Award Recognizes In-Stadium Entertainment, Presentation
The Durham Bulls have been named winner of GameOps.com’s “Best Team Operations” award, honoring the professional sports franchise with the best game entertainment and presentation. The accolade joins a run of major awards this offseason for the Bulls, who were also named winners of the John H. Johnson President’s Award as Minor League Baseball’s most complete franchise and “Best Ballpark Renovation” by Ballpark Digest.
The award solidifies the Bulls’ place as an industry leader in progressive and professionally produced game entertainment, which incorporates everything from between-innings promotions to usage of video displays.
“The Bulls aren’t just a legendary Minor League Baseball brand, they are a major force in sports marketing and game entertainment,” said GameOps.com founder Jon Cudo. “(Our award) Panelists inside and outside of baseball hold them in high regard for their brand management, game presentation and event operations.”
The star of the DBAP’s nightly show, Wool E. Bull not only makes over 250 community appearances a year, he also anchors the cast of characters that amuses fans at Bulls games all season.
The Diamond Cutters, Minor League Baseball’s premier dancing grounds crew, were featured on Good Morning America after their performance of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” was viewed over a million times on Facebook alone. Honoring the film that made the team a nationally recognized name, the Bull Durham Racers allow fans to get up close and personal with larger-than-life caricatures of Crash Davis, Annie Savoy, and Nuke LaLoosh. From the Mini Wool E’s to well-placed actors posing as umpires and visiting players to the Pamplona-reversed Running of the Kids, an evening with the Bulls has become much more than a ballgame.
Also incorporating an unmatched presentation of social media interaction, baseball data, stats, and player information, the Bulls utilize state-of-the art video displays to balance the on-field attractions with slick graphic content on par with Major League stadiums.
The Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA and Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL were also named winners in the “Best Team Operations” category. GameOps.com is an industry-leading website designed to connect teams and event producers with ideas and tools to enhance the entertainment value of their events.
