Leadership Triangle recently presented their 2014 Goodmon Awards, named for CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon, to deserving community leaders for their regional thinking and innovative work in the Triangle. Themed “Reflections to the Future,” the annual Leadership Triangle Awards Gala took place at American Tobacco’s Bay 7 in downtown Durham on Thursday evening, December 11th.
CBC President & CEO Jim Goodmon, Leadership Triangle Chair Emeritus, helped make the award presentations with his son and current Board Chair, American Tobacco Vice President & General Manager Michael Goodmon. WRAL-TV Anchors Debra Morgan and Ken Smith emceed the gala.
And the winners are:
- Goodmon Award for Economic Development – First Flight Venture Center
- Goodmon Award for Community Service – Activate Good
- Goodmon Award for Arts and Entertainment – Katie Wyatt
- Goodmon Fellow Award – Goodmon Fellow Beth Turner
- Goodmon Award for Strategic Partnership. GoTriangle Transportation Demand Management
- Leadership Triangle Hall of Fame Inductee – Robert A. Ingram
The evening all included Leadership Triangle’s annual fundraising auction conducted by Col. Benjamin Farrell. Students from Kidznotes and Girls Rock NC provided the musical entertainment as guests enjoyed dinner catered by the Angus Barn. Wake Robotics opened the evening and amazed the audience with all they have accomplished in their short lives.

“Leadership Triangle has also accomplished much in its 23 years,” said LT President Winkie La Force. “Its mission is to support regional leadership, cooperation and communication. Its 650 alumni family, the Goodmon Fellows, work together to plan for the future-when a million more people will move into our communities to work, live and play.”
Leadership Triangle has four distinct class series for college students, middle and upper managers and executives as well as an active alumni network who plans forums, luncheons and networking activities. The regional class starts in January. Find out more here.
