Coats for the ChildrenThousands of Triangle children will be warm this winter thanks to the generosity of WRAL-TV viewers, children who otherwise would be freezing.  Through WRAL’s 26th Annual Coats for the Children Campaign, viewers donated more than 5,000 coats, hats and gloves, and contributed $108,221 to help purchase winter apparel.

And that’s not all.  Viewers also donated 750 new toys to help The Salvation Army give some children in need a great Christmas.

Coats for the ChildrenWRAL-TV collected coats throughout six weeks in November and December of 2014, and took donations on the phone during the 26th annual Telethon on Friday, December 12th.  $30,400 came in online at WRAL.com during the campaign.

“We had a great year with strong results for families in our communities,” said WRAL-TV Director of Local Production Phyllis Parish.

Since 1989, WRAL has collected over 150,000 coats and raised $1.5 million to provide winter clothing for Salvation Army families.

WRAL-TV thanks community partners, Jiffy Lube and First Citizens Bank, for their support of this project.

Thanks to the Salvation Army for the photos below from their coat sorting day in January 2015!
