MIX 101.5 invites you to listen with your heart during their 21st annual MIX Radiothon for the Kids at Duke which starts today, Fri, Apr 24th and runs through tomorrow, Sat, Apr 25th. The 2015 Radiothon is raising funds to support Duke Children’s Hospital.
Broadcasting live from the McGovern-Davison Children’s Health Center MIX Morning Show Co-Hosts Gene and Julie Gates will kick things off at 6am with their morning co-horts Vanna Fox and Casey Tate. WRAL-FM AFternoon Host Jim Kelly will join in the fun, as the first day’s broadcast runs through 7pm. Then the gang will be back at it again from 7am to 6pm on Saturday.
Both days will be filled with a host of patients, both current and former, and their families. Staff from the hospital will also share stories as music montages help convey the miracles that happen at Duke.
“I look forward to and dread Radiothon every year,” said Kelly. “It is an amazing thing our listeners do and we do as a radio station for the kids and their families at Duke. However, it is a flood of memories and emotions every time I walk through the doors. I worked 3 Radiothons at MIX before my twins became part of the Duke family. They were born at 26 weeks at the children’s hospital. My son weighed 1lb, 15oz my daughter 1lb 14oz. My wife Tara and I got to experience firsthand what an amazing place Duke Children’s Hospital is. I truly believe that without Duke, I would not have Aiden and Olivia. Duke and the Radiothon will always hold a special place in my heart.”
