Changes are in store for WRAL-TV’s Sunday morning football show. WRAL-TV Sports Anchor Jeff Gravley shares the new game plan:
by Jeff Gravley
Last fall I had so much fun working with Coach Steve Logan on our Sunday football show, the Logan Zone. It was a Top 10 career assignment.
Well, Coach Logan got the itch to coach again so he ditched “retirement,” packed up and headed back to work in the NFL as the quarterbacks coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He is really enjoying his return coaching.
You can’t have a Logan Zone on TV without the namesake, period. But we can still have a show on Sunday mornings to chew the fat about football.
Beginning Sept. 6, and running through Nov. 29, join us at 11:30 a.m. for WRAL Sports Sunday. We will look back at the week that was in local sports and college football. Each week we will have a special guest in studio to walk us through what happened on the local scene.
We will also have a Sunday Spotlight which could be a long-form interview or feature on football or another avenue of sports. I’ll spill the beans on the first week’s Sunday Spotlight: “What it was, was football,” the great Andy Griffith parody on football. A few moons ago, our magical sports editor and photographer Jay Jennings put pictures to words in an essay that will make you laugh.
Did you miss any of the great, great plays or just want to see them again? We’ll have it.
Another important part of WRAL Sports Sunday will come from you. Send us pictures or videos showing your game day experience and we will pick the best ones to share on the air. Snap away at your pre-game tailgate, from your seats at the game or from your football house party. You will be able to submit your pictures through wralsportsfan.com or by Twitter using #wralsportssunday.
With WRAL Sports Sunday leading into the NFL today, we will also have a Panthers preview as an appetizer to your NFL Sunday.
We hope you will join the fun during one of the best times of the year! I love football season because it’s a sport that is only played once a week. As a team and fan base, you prepare for the game, live it, then figure out a way to deal with the outcome until the next opportunity.
I’ll see you on Sept. 6 for the opening kickoff of WRAL Sports Sunday.
Thanks to WRAL-TV’s Leesa Moore, WRAL-TV’s Jeff Gravley and WRALSportsFan.com for this capcom story & photo.
