FCC Commissioner Visits Capitol Broadcasting

FCC visit

FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly talks to WRAL-TV staffers in the newsroom during his visit to the station on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

A few weeks ago CBC had a few very important guests on campus.  FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly and his Chief of Staff Robin Colwell visited the WRAL-TV studios and several other CBC divisions on Thursday, November 12, 2015.

Corp VP & General Counsel Jennifer Venable explained that CBC’s FCC counsel in Washington, D.C. arranged the visit “so that we could provide context for our concerns as local broadcasters.”

O’Rielly tweeted about his visit, complimenting the WRAL team on their great questions as well as highlighting his ride in Sky 5.

“We were able to demonstrate the investments we have made in the community and the unique perspective we have as a small local broadcaster (rather than a large station group),” said Venable.  “We were also able to show our focus on technology and innovation.  It was really cool to show them around the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and tell them about the Post 50 program and how we¹re training the next generation of broadcasters.”

O’Rielly also went to American Tobacco and the Durham Bulls during his day in the Triangle:
