With Help from Rudolph, WRAL-TV Tower Lights Despite Fog

WRAL-TV Tower Lighting 2015

WRAL-TV’s Mike Maze captured this shot of the WRAL-TV tower now aglow for the 2015 holiday season. The 57th Annual WRAL-TV Tower Lighting took place during the evening newscasts on Tuesday, December 1st.

Thanks to Rudolph, Santa has never missed a Christmas Eve delivery despite the fog.  And as an appropriate coincidence Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer happened to be on hand for the 2015 WRAL-TV Tower Lighting on Tuesday, December 1st. The fog kept Sky 5 on the ground but the tower lighting went on without a hitch.

Several cast members from “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – The Musical” choreographed a special dance they performed during the evening newscasts as a surprise treat for the 57th Annual WRAL-TV Tower Lighting.  More than 50 musicians from the NC Master Chorale also provided musical entertainment for WRAL viewers.

After a visit from Scrooge of the NC Theatre’s annual production of “A Christmas Carol” and some reminiscences of tower lightings past, Rudolph stepped out to help light the tower.  After an in-studio countdown led by WRAL-TV Anchors Debra Morgan and David Crabtree, Rudolph’s nose and the tower lit up at the same time.

Thanks to several WRAL-TV staffers who shared photos of the tower aglow in the fog.
