December has been all Christmas music, all the time at WRAL-FM, but a few of the selections on rotation are extra-special. Songs from school choirs in the Triangle are playing alongside Brenda Lee and Mariah Carey. The 2015 MIX 101.5 Christmas Choir Competition, presented by Lowes Foods, culminated with a second annual choir concert to celebrate the winners. Listeners voted to determine the semi-finalists and then top three winners in each division.
The MIX morning crew has been visiting the winning schools to present their check prizes this week.
And the 2015 winners are:
Division II – High School
- First Place: Harnett Central High – $5,000
- Second Place: Northwood High School – $2,000
- Third Place: St. David’s School – $1,500
Division I – Elementary & Middle School
- First Place: Fuquay Varina Elementary – $5,000
- Second Place: Thales Academy – $2,000
