Clear the SheltersThis Saturday, July 23, 2016, WRAL-TV will join NBCUniversal in a national pet adoption drive in which local shelters will waive adoption fees for one day.  Clear The Shelters (CTS) is a nationwide pet adoption initiative that brings shelters, rescue groups, and adopters together to find loving homes for pets in need. This is done through partnerships between animal adoption groups and NBC-owned television stations. Hundreds of animal organizations will participate across the country.

In central North Carolina, WRAL is partnering with eight area shelters, including the Wake Animal Center, Wake SPCA and Safe Haven for Cats. Some organizations in the Triad and Charlotte area are also participating.

WRAL-TV will airing reminders daylong with live reports from WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Bryan Mims in the morning and WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Gerald Owens during the 6pm newscast.

To share the results of the day, a half-hour NBC special will air on Friday, July 29, at 7pm, featuring highlights from our local CTS campaign and a look at how the campaign did nationally.
