Capitol Broadcasting’s FM sports talk radio station has been nominated for a prestigious Marconi Award by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). WCMC-FM 99.9 The Fan is one of only five finalists for the Marconi Award for Sports Station of the Year, a national honor, and in the smallest market on the list.
“This is definitely ‘team award’ nomination as far as I’m concerned,” said 99.9 The Fan Program/Operations Director Dennis Glasgow. “The staff has worked very hard on their craft at sports radio, and it’s humbling to be mentioned by the NAB in this prestigious group of great sports radio stations around the country. But let’s be clear, while we are blessed to be nominated, we want to win and bring home some hardware for CBC!”
With nearly 700 sports formatted stations in the country, 99.9 The Fan has become a finalist alongside some very good company.
The finalists for Sports Station of The Year are:
- KNBR-AM San Francisco, CA
- KRLD-FM Dallas, TX
- WCMC-FM Raleigh, NC
- WSCR-AM Chicago, IL
- WXYT-FM Detroit, MI
The NAB Marconi Awards honor radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting. Winners will be announced in September at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show during the 2016 Radio Show in Nashville.
