Pinwheel Gardens Return to CBC for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

Pinwheel Garden at CBC

CBC planted a Pinwheel Garden for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Both Capitol Broadcasting and American Tobacco campuses have once again planted a Pinwheel Garden for Prevent Child Abuse NC.  Tenants at ATC came out to plant on Sunday, April 9, 2017, and CBC employees and Prevent Child Abuse NC volunteers planted a garden along Western Blvd on Thursday, April 20.

Prevent Child Abuse America first began planting the gardens in 2008, beginning the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign.  The effort served to “create a national effort to change the public’s beliefs and behaviors regarding child abuse and neglect prevention. The pinwheel represents our efforts to change the way our nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur.”

CBC first planted pinwheels in Durham three years ago and extended the planting to our Western Blvd location the following year.
